Your only option for those users will be to download the manual updates overnight at least every 7 days or so. It’s either food on table or a new computer, and food wins most of the time. But MS doesn’t realize that many people don’t have the money to buy new computers. This is their new ploy get people to move to Windows 11 filled with MS spyware and telemetry. I heard from a few other tech friends that Microsoft (MS) has deploy a bug into the update to get people to stop using Windows 7 and 8.1. My non-regular clients ask for a flat rate that is below what others in the area charge. Others either give IOU slips or pay very little. Another time got only paid with 2 gallons of milk. ![]() Another time was paid with 4 fresh loaf of bread. I got paid with a basket of 16 eggs fresh from chickens and ducks. ![]() After that, and if they’re a regular client, I ask for whatever they can pay. I usually don’t charge for anything I can fix in under 20 min. I charge cheap so was surprise they didn’t call me sooner. When they had issues getting to the internet, then they called me. I asked why they did not call me and was told they had no money to pay for repairing it. I asked the customer how long it’d been like that and was told maybe 12 days or so. I was fixing another issues and noticed the pop up. Has anyone seen issues with Windows Defender not updating on Windows 7 and 8.1 in last two months or so? (Not an option for some that have slow DSL connections or dialup) I have my reservations after the despicable GWX campaign. Then no definition updates available after subsequent engine updates (only by downloading the 100+mb definition file for a manual update.) WU was enabled, repopulated and some came through for a few days. Not long after, the definitions would not update without the WU service enabled. The following quoted update prior to July 12th (patch Tuesday) when this all started on Win8.1 here on two devices. ![]() A few of them are repeat users from June. In June, I only got a couple per day but now in July and start of August, I am getting 10+ calls per day from different users and different computers. Now I am getting calls from them on daily basis or after 7 days have pass. They are getting message that antivirus is outdated and they have no clue why. I am getting call from over 1000 people that are still using Windows 7 and 8.1 since they can not or will not be part of MS spyware nation. Scanned with Malwarebytes as well to see if it might pick something up but nothing.Scanned computers with it after updates was install and nothing was found.(Not an option for some that have slow DSL connections or dialup) Only solution seems to download the offline update of 136MB or so.Running update from command prompt does nothing.Has anyone seen issues with Windows Defender not updating on Windows 7 and 8.1 in last two months or so?
